You're right, it is a scam. Educating the deaf and hard of hearing is one thing. Now you have documents, why not send it to AOL/AIM and tell them about this fraud so they can disable the account. That's a greater public service you can provide.
 

I did that and the account's warning level is 19 as of now. Whether AIM is going to do about it or not is up to them.

I was aware of the scammer. so, I got 5 thousand dollars scammer. I won't depoisted and plan to contact Federal soon as I find one piece.

Dont answer the deafgroup@hotmail.com they are fraud and scammer me. I am not stupidest. I give you when I find one of website that police from Seattle,WA encouraged me to contact federal gov to stopping the scammer. I have one but I misplaced somewhere.

I encourage you to call police to get a website and contact and dont depoist in Western Union!!!

My mom got trapped in some scammers called efcc. She already paid some money to them. She told me that they will deliver money and car to her at her house. I told her no such thing that they will do that. My mom still intsited about that. She think they are for REAL. I can't believe that she doesn't believe me. I wish she have came to me before she got into that scam. Is there a way that she can get a help? Please advise.

Be wary of deaf dating site where someone from another country offers deaf to pay them to fly to USA to meet their newly found romance interest. Usually ,that is a scam. I know one person that fell for it, the nigerian woman signed on VP!! She knew ASL! The guy never saw his money again. The money was wired via western union.

Anything that is offered for "free" should be "free" and no one should ever pay one cent to get it!

Money order can look real and even have well known bank on it, but it can be a counterfiet (fake).

If it's too good to be true, it's probably a scam.

Always google the source and\or go to fraud or scam reporting web site to verify.

CDT isn't legally a scam yet, they're distributing overpriced industrial grade or blood diamonds. I seen people get these diamonds free and they cant sell them on ebay or anywhere else for the inflatory prices.

Quixtar is evolved from Amway and they still have the same lousy distribution system that makes them look like a scam.

I was almost a victim to one not long ago.
I was online when Albert Paul came up unexpectedly, greeted me with a nice gesture. He said he is in Delaware, running his own business as computer technican. He clained he is hard of hearing and struggling in his own world. He chatted nicely, sent me very nice intelligent poems he claimed he wrote. We chatted for probably couple weeks and then he said he would like to come and visit me. I told him I would like to see him and his face before we would go on. He said no videocam or webcam. I offered to send him $50.00 to buy a cam. He did not want cam so I did not send any. Later on he said he need to go to London to get the money someone owed him, $5,000.00 and he asked me to wiore him this amunt so that he can fly to London to collect. I got confused with his plan of coming her and to London. I told him I will never send any money to the strangers until we know each other first. He then called ms all the names he could think of in his black book. It turned me off and reported him to AOL TOS. I have never heard from him since then and wondered if he made contacts with any more deaf people.. So be careful who you talk to.. Remember Albert Paul of Delaware....
 

My acknowledged that I seen there is a lot of scam so I once send it to www.ic3.gov and they take care of it and explain this situation about being attempt scam with me. So they (FBI agents) took care of it and guess what they have got tracked and pin them down total 137 deaf scammers some are from america and some are from United Kingdom and some are from Nigeria that who bought the equipment to make fake checks and make money through scamming with deaf americans and canadians too. They have made successful but really suddenly that FBI agent is already there before deaf scammer came to western union to pick up the money so finally arrested and still more deaf and hard of hearing scammers out there because one of who don't pick up the money the one who is doing for the runner to cash it then bring the money to the boss and the boss did not tell them who they are but they makes money. But now the boss is stuck because of runner is already arrested at western union office.But the boss hire another runner to do it for him again and again. It's still running scam out there. Be caution for yourself and know better before do it. So if you have been victim by scammer you can just reportedly to http://www.ic.3.gov that FBI is working on it and get track and pin them down.I guaranteed you!! I would advise all deaf people to contact their nearest FBI office. They have a task force for internet scams and frauds. They will investigate all internet crimes...
 

the other day i got a im on my aim with a jennycare64 i was skeptical and demanded to know who that was he identified him self as a robert collins. told me who he was.... i kind of played him for awhile but he went offline then...???? so i wonder
 

Yes... I got it from Deaf Lottery Association and the agent name's DeafAgent07 (aka Greg Williams) on Yahoo Messenger. Somehow, I made him left after I said... "Oh I can't afford to pay hidden fee of 400 to get a $150,000 check.. Please take off my name.. sorry to be online chatting with you." Look that way he got p**sed off and left Yahoo Messenger. Good thing I made scammer mad or whatever.
 

Please be more caution about the deaf dating SCAM thru online MSN or Camfrog or Yahoo messenger chatroom from the Philippines. I just want to reminder all of you. Please don't paying attention to them and they can be very often pretend on you as what they did told me. "This is an EMERGENCY money and can you please help me". I don't want you given money to the person thru Moneygram or Western Union or Xoom.com send to someone in the Philippines.

I can understand that a lot of deafies in the Philippines often so poorest and they don't have any kind of jobs in the Philippines. They're so often discrimnation for the deaf or hard of hearing refuse hiring on the higher pay job. Deaf Filipino's unemployement are much highest about 90% in the Philippines. That is because they don't have any kind of job and start to scam thru deaf people online chatroom. So becareful and please don't send money that you don't know them.
 

I have been scammed by this same name Deaf Lottery Association .I am currently living in Texas . I too have had this person going by this name suzan_deafagent . Saying that I was a winner of $150,000.00. I was contacted by my Yahoo email and even IM'ed on Yahoo . And the person said she was from Huntsville , Alabama and that was where her company was and till , I called the Huntsville, Alabama Police Department and they said there is no such thing as that in Alabama . I felt so violated and humiliated by this. So they have the reports about this person doing this scamming. And this person stating that I must pay her client money before I get the winning money and I was very suspicious about it . So that is how I reported it to the Police about it. I'd like to hear more of others . I reside in Texas ..

My husband recently was contacted by the same persononly his screen name was 07 not o6. This person has been contacting him for months. after getting a good lacing down from me his overly protective wife the deafagent07 contacted my husband AGAIN and told him not to discuss it with me anymore or he would lose his money.

just over the last few weeks ANOTHER scam attempt. this time a person by the name of opcmanager claiming to be a manager of oriental petrolium company is trying to tell my husband he can make 900.00 a week working online. "Processing payments". I talk to this person and I ask lots of questions and am told I must "respect them as manager" and that I am asking too many questions. I quickly informed them that deaf is not dumb and that I knew it was a scam from the start. this person went through how we needed to send name, address, phone number and bank account information to them private email. That we would recieve checks and needed to cash them and keep 20% while we sent the rest to their "office" again western union or money gram. Hmmmm. Then they say we get free truck to drive it is free and clear in our name from the company as gift but that we need to send them processing fee. IRONICALLY 560.00 same as the deafagent07 asked for. LOL! The processing and registration fee was used to set up our plates title and insurance for our new truck. Like we don't know you cannot register a truck and insurance for someone else let along like that.

When I refuse to pay them money and said "no thank you we do not need a truck" they insisted we must pay it. I refused again and they demanded it be paid or no work.

In the end the person like deafagent06 in the origional post no longer wanted to talk and suddenly had to go.

I am not deaf. My husband is. But I get sick to my stomach that these frauds are targeting the deaf community. As if people who are deaf are somehow dumb and clueless. LOL get a grip scammers they arent.

I wonder though can I ask...
How long has this been going on? My husband recently got a Sorenson vidio phone and we never had scam attempts before that. Could it be something to do with the registration and submitting of his AOL and yahoo address in their listing for other deaf people in the community? No offense agains thte company but has anyone else recently recieved one of these video phones?
 

I got an email from Elezerpalmer@aol.com saying I won $150,000. I knew it was scam. I have reported this person to authorities in my town and AOL to have them to disable that person's account.
 

Hi I experienced it happened this morning and it was pretty messed up. I have shooted at one of DAL and he stopped chat with me on yahoo after I found out that it wasn't real! I was awful confused and upset. I never understand why they have done to steal the email address!!! I guess I felt stupid but I told my sister about it and had helped me lot through and she was glad that I forwarded to her so many email from DAL. She said itis really scam! I started to realized about it and now I learned a lesson and need to try to be careful to read what kind od website I do not know enough. I wanted most deaf in deaf community in Canada and USA to learn to stop and protetct theirselves from scam and frauds. I am from Alberta, Canada. I also want the Deaf association to teach the education to deaf people to protect theirselves for the future. I wondered why they have done and did this to deaf people!!! It is really hard for ;me to explain because I have lots of emotionally right now. I will be ok someday and try to forget everything. I must say that I was very very glad that I did my homework after I was told that I d won $150,000 like you guys. I was told through oovoo and thought it was strange. I am from Australia and was very glad that I didnt give them too much information. When I got the email asking for my bank details etc, I had a look at the website and found this blog. I had a bad feeling that it was a scam and I was right all along! It is sad that they think they could fool us Deaf people. We are not stupid, we are SMART!

I just wanted to let everyone know that this afternoon I was contacted by deafie07 and I don't know how he recieved my ovoo account. Also I would like to add is that I am not deaf so how they get our email addresses is beyond me. I am in an interpreting program though.
 

Greetings deaf friends... I am not deaf, however my parents are. I would strongly encourage everyone to install and use anti-spyware software. Here's why:

Often, when you go to websites (when you open joke emails, etc) a software program is automatically installed to your computer that follows you on the internet.

These programs record the websites you visit and then send the information back to the scammer. If the scammer knows that you visit websites for the deaf often, he can make his scam more believable by making you think it is coming from the deaf community!

Don't believe it! Think about it: If you really won money, why can't they just subtract the fees from your winnings?

Get anti-spyware software and use it often. At least once a week. Stop these scammers from following you!

I am not deaf, and I am a Canadian,(just to let you know it's expanded) and today i got an email in my junk box from these people. Being as smart as I am, I decided NOT to open the email, and instead used a search engine to discover more. When I typed up "deaf lottery" I came across what looks like a TRUE lottery for deaf people in Australia. However, when I added "association" I came upon your site. Thank you so much for helping me confirm this is a scam. I knew I didn't win $150,000 because I haven't bought any tickets to ANYTHING! I'm sorry these people are using the deaf as a meal ticket, and I sincerely hope no one falls for this crap. But they are spreading who they're targeting. I hope everyone warns the people they know and love about this.
 

My mom got an IM from them, don't know how long ago, I just saw the printout of it. Deafagent07 was his name. She gave him our full address and her full name, nothing else, but I'm still worried. What can he do with that info?

this is unbeleiveable! I would never ever give out my account number nor do soemthing stupid like that! My boyfriend was watching a pay programming and he found it interesting getting a "learn how to do microsoft" or learn how to do computer. Well he called and order it and they asked for his account and they said they will give one just one free disk and the rest is for u to pay for it. Also if u like what u got, give us a call and we will give u more. we dont take anything out of ure account. He said that he only wants one that is free and nothing else, ill call if i like it. Some how another disk came in and i said hey, u got more disk. He was like oH NO!! and he was checking his bank balance and realized that they drew out his money more and more. he got mad and called to say stop it. they sent his money back> TV, online scam lottery will screw ure bank and ure life. I am deaf, and i have better sense to beleive what people will do to ya. LIke this poor kid fell for it. Mann i feel ya! ANything like that IS A SCAM! Please be careful deafies. Dont let anyone take an advantage of ya. U have a good day deafies!
 

Happened to me earlier tonight too. His AOL SN is williams4deaf contacted me that I've won $150,000. I asked him for his name, phn nbr, where he works, his address, how'd he found me, how I won without entering, how he & AOL know I'm deaf, etcs.. he refused give me his info. except his name was David Smith Larry from Illinois & that he works FedEx to delivery it to me but he needs me pay for shipping fees. I refused! He said it was my loss and he'll send the cash back to Government and they will pay 'my won cash' to FedEx, their Commission.. HA SURE, YEAH RIGHT! I told a friend abt this and they sent me this blog, I cannot believe it happened to ME too after many of you deafies!

We also got an IM from RoseCares8 saying we had "Won" $80,000.

While my wife was talking to her, I found this website and told my wife to cut-off the communication and tell her it was a scam. RoseCares8 immediately signed off.

Hopefully everyone checks this website and that NOBODY gives out personal information.
