NEW, NEEDED MAGAZINES TO BE PUBLISHED BY MODERN DEAF COMMUINICATION

Modern Deaf Communication will be introducing new publications in a magazine format. These are Modern Deaf Employment and Modern Deaf Education.

Modern Deaf Employment will publish stories of deaf people moving into new English-active jobs. These are jobs where the deaf employee communicates face-to-face in English with his hearing co-workers. No sign language and no interpreter assistance are used. A special section will feature news of job openings. Success stories and problem areas will be highlighted. The presentation techniques used by Job-Placement and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors will be discussed.

Modern Deaf Education will be concerned with the progress being made by educators in schools for the deaf using the Writing Communication Method of Reading-Writing Instruction for Deaf Children. This publication will discuss special classroom techniques being used by teachers, and will document improvements in the literacy of deaf children.

Both publications will provide information of interest to all professionals concerned with deaf welfare.
